FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS LIST

How do I uninstall versions 5.x of the program? (note that this question is not applicable to versions 6.x!!)

In fact, "Wowbagger" 5.x is quite easy to remove. If you want to remove it from memory instantly, you can do one of these two things (do note that this does not totally remove it from your computer):

1) Wait until an insult screen appears. When that happens, click on the picture, then 'cancel', or
2) Press CTRL-ALT-DEL (on Windows NT, then click 'task list'), select 'Wowbag' (or 'Wowbagger') and click 'End Task' (if necessary, confirm)

If you want to remove "Wowbagger" from your computer entirely, that is including removing it from your hard disk, perform the following steps:

1) Go to the Start Menu, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs
2) Select 'Wowbag' (or 'Wowbagger')
3) Click the 'add/remove' button
4) Follow the steps

Now you may still need to delete the shortcut in the Start Menu that you might have put there:

1) Right-click on the 'Start' menu button
2) Click 'explore'
3) Navigate to 'Programs' - 'Startup' (on Windows NT, find the 'Startup' folder; I don't know exactly where this is, but you probably put the shortcut there yourself so you'll know; if necessary use 'find')
4) Open that folder
5) Remove the Shortcut to 'Wowbag' (or 'Wowbagger')

I do not have the Speech API installed...where could I download it?

Go to http://download.microsoft.com/msdownload/sapi/4.0/rtw/sdk/msttsl.exe.

The download should start. Be patient.

If you want to develop text-to-speech and speech recognition software, download the whole SDK. Do note that this is 39 megabytes!

I installed the Update version of Wowbagger. The Setup program tells me several files are not newer. What to do?

Install the new versions of wow_data.dat or tsrotfgowtip.exe. The other files (usually Windows components) should only be installed if they're newer.

Once I've specified a WAV file to be played when the insult occurs, I cannot switch it off anymore. What should I do?

The, um, 'workaround' is to specify a non-existing file name. That should help. If you're not too timid to fool around in the registry, navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\TheSecond\Settings key and delete the WavPath setting.
